LIGHTWORKER BLINDSPOT
I often hesitate to call myself a "LIGHTWORKER". In truth, I am that — a soul worker — who sheds and shares light into the darkness so the totality of any experience may be navigated and integrated.
Why the hesitation to claim this title? Mostly because I feel unaligned with how I see the role portrayed and described by many in the healing and helping communities. Specifically unsettling are self-proclaimed lightworkers who express THE LIGHT as primary domain, followed by emphatic declaration that there is NO NEED to ever operate elsewhere.
Don't get me wrong. I adore SPIRITUAL LIGHT.
And LOVE is... well... LOVE.
"Love is a weakness so strong that it can not be broken, and it is therefore, the greatest power imaginable." ~ Alanna Kaivalya from MYTHS OF THE ASANAS
I DO believe ultimately, LOVE is the answer to every question, yet as messy stumbly humans we don't come to embody this wisdom by simply declaring it so.
It's a journey, folks.
We traverse and navigate and try and fail and do better and then get humbled. Over and over. Refining. Distilling. Integrating. We transform our flaws through honest inquiry and accountability. FACING FLAWS requires AWAREness and MOVEment. It's a dance.
It's flux and flow. And yes, it is love.
I have no beef with either LIGHT or LOVE, separately or stitched together.
This is simply NOT a complete picture. At least in the way I've watched the concepts bandied about as short-hand for THE TRUTH without the depth of inquiry or MORE importantly without consideration for the realities of OTHER humans existing on our planet, in our country, even within our local communities for whom our privileges do not extend.
Let's explore some nuances here.
Unwillingness to tread anywhere but the well-lit playground of love and only love perplexes me, and here's why... When your LOVE only serves in the LIGHT, what message does that convey to ALL that is not yet enLIGHTened... in you and in others?
Refusals of anything NOT love and light are more than just dismissive, arrogant and potentially culturally insensitive, but can also FEEL dangerous.
Dangerous? Yes!
As a profoundly sensitive human, I am careful and particular about who + what I interact with. When someone is ONLY willing to be / work / stay / explore IN THE LOVE + THE LIGHT then likely there exists a shit-ton of untended information / wisdom / juice / dormant potential AND also warnings, pitfalls + landmines.
Ignored or untended material can become volatile, awaiting opportunity to burst forth or seep out from the shadows bringing turmoil, drama and suffering.
We ALL carry untended material, but if you refuse to explore yours or honor it in others, you may be walking with quite a stockpile and working with a mighty big blindspot.
I LOVE Mariana Caplan's work and her words here from EYES WIDE OPEN feel so inviting,
Can you feel this invitation?
Develop the light. BRING the light to illuminate the dark; NOT IGNORE, not obliterate, but ILLUMINATE so we can explore, understand, adjust, remedy, befriend and reclaim what is found.
It is US waiting there in the shadows...
waiting for us to become SECURE enough, CURIOUS enough, BRAVE enough to grow our SHINE strong enough to light the way into the depths of the journeys we must take to become whole & integrated. To do so makes us, our work and our walk in the world MORE impactful, more useful, truly radiant with GENUINE shine and a DEEPER glow.
RADIANCE.... SHINE... GLOW...
These words get tossed around a lot on social media and in marketing.
MY WISH: Let us pause, reflect and address the full spectrum of life and its experiences so we may BECOME + EXUDE AUTHENTIC RADIANCE and thus light the way for ourselves and those we serve in our world.
And to be clear... I don't mind whatever someone CALLS themselves or labels their work. I DO pay attention to how it's described and I FEEL when there is transcendence and when there is avoidance. Tune in to discern and distinguish for yourself as you choose where to lean toward resources and support.
At times you may be the lantern. At times you might follow the lamplight. Let us all SERVE as lightworkers who each share our light in and through the dark.
Should you require or desire support for your process, I offer ENERGY MEDICINE SESSIONS (online or in-person in PHX, AZ)
LOVING ME / ROOTING FOR YOU,
Suzanne
